Auctions for 5G spectrum continued for the fifth day on Saturday, after fetching bids value Rs 1,49,855 crore from gamers similar to Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel up to now.
Continued curiosity for radiowaves has led to stretching of the public sale to Saturday, and in line with sources, twenty fourth spherical of bidding is underway.
About 71 per cent of the overall spectrum placed on the block has been provisionally offered up to now, Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw had stated on Friday, terming it a “good response.”
On Friday, seven rounds of bidding happened, and incrementally Rs 231.6 crore was recorded. In all, 23 rounds of bidding have been carried out until Friday.
Billionaire Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio, Sunil Mittal-led Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Concept and a unit of billionaire Gautam Adani’s flagship Adani Enterprises are within the race to bid for 5G spectrum, which affords speeds about 10 instances quicker than 4G, lag-free connectivity, and may allow billions of related gadgets to share information in real-time.
